The Florida band juggles nearly every tempo and mood, bouncing from pop-punk to seething metal and pensive balladry to silly studio banter. Tempered by nostalgia—emo-ish small-town ode "City of Ocala" and wistful tour anthem "I Remember"—Common Courtesy is about finding a "reason to come back home," as Jeremy McKinnon sings on the acoustic jangler "I'm Already Gone." But such sweetness is the exception. Our hero practically foams at the mouth during this album-length quest, howling and growling over hammering beats and crunchy riffs on ragers like "Dead & Buried."
